State demands child take cancer-causing drugs. This is an extreme case showing total disregard for parental rights in caring for their children. Their 9-year-old son had received cancer treating drugs and chemotherapy after a dangerous bone cancer was removed. His mother realized the drugs were taking an extreme toll on his health and that he would not be able to survive many more treatments. They went to a prayer network and asked for prayer for healing for their son. Hundreds of people prayed for Jacob. After all of his rounds of chemotherapy were completed a PET scan showed Jacob to be cancer free. But the doctors demanded they continue chemotherapy and radiation which was their “standard of care”.  Jacob’s parents begged the doctors for an individual diagnosis but they refused saying all children with this cancer needed multiple rounds of drugs regardless of the results of the PET scan. When the parents refused, the doctors contacted Child Protective Services and demanded they file charges. CPS refused and the doctors called the state to pressure the agency to file charges. The doctors were questioned about the FDA approval of the drugs and the doctor said they were safe to use on children without reading the package inserts which stated these drugs caused other cancers. The doctor remained adamant in the validity of her standard treatment regardless of the health of Jacob. Why should the doctor get to choose to continue unnecessary and dangerous treatment? Big Brother is overstepping his boundaries and becoming too arrogant for words. When will it stop?
