Desperate To Drink, Texas Turns To Sewage – Staying Healthy News Story – KMGH Denver. Do you know what a water reclamation plant is? It is a plant that will take sewage/waste water, treat it and turn it into clean, drinkable water. Sounds yummy, right? I’m not sure, but I’m pretty good at distancing myself from unpleasant thoughts. So, you would just have to think of this as, clean, safe, drinking water, and not where it originated. Texas is facing the worst drought in its history so natural water sources are drying up. New ideas have to be made. And so, a new plant is in the making.  Water-reclamation technology has improved greatly and will be a vital part of providing drinking water for parts of the country struggling to keep reservoirs full.

The water-reclamation process involves a complex series of treatment. The water will be disinfected, de-mineralized, disinfected again and then mixed with water from the reservoir and then re-treated again.

The water will go through several levels of treatment to make it safe and clean.
