Did Startrek the Next Generation have the Kindle?

Cover of "Kindle Wireless Reading Device,...

Cover via Amazon

I’m finally ready to own a Kindle. I have almost 2 bedrooms full of bookshelves and books. We even have books in boxes and piled in corners! I think that is entirely too many books! So, I think the solution is to get a Kindle. And since I’m a Star Trek fan, I was watching some episodes of The Next Generation and realized that they were probably using something like the Kindle in all the episodes. Every time they had to read a report, etc. they were holding a hand-held pad which made me think of the Kindle. What do you think? Did Star Trek  introduce the first Kindle?

  1. I agree. I sometimes wonder how much Star Trek has influenced our modern technology and social attitudes. Cell phones. The Kindle. Carl Sagan on many occasions spoke of the importance of good Sci-fi authors and producers, claiming that sci-fi is what got him interested in science at a young age. He grew up to be a strong voice of western science (particularly American scientists) for almost a decade strong in his hey day.
