No drinking water, prohibition sign D-P005 acc...

You expect to pay for utilities, right? But did you know you have to pay for water and sewage even if you don’t use them? How can you not use them you ask? After the last freeze, daughter shut off her water until we could hire a plumber to reconnect pipes under the house that became dislodged and flooded her yard. She has been showering etc. at our house. So, for at least a month, no water usage. The bill she was sent even says no water usage during that time period. The bill came with a disconnect notice. Did they not notice the “no water usage” part of the bill they sent? Did they not realize the water has been turned off? So what are they going to disconnect? And the bill was for $39.  This became a tie for hubby’s  No. 1 rant list for this month. After daughter finally called the company to question the bill, she was told there is a minimum charge whether you use any water or not. Wow. On top of that, they sent someone out to disconnect at a charge of $25 to discover that “gasp” it was already disconnected! That’s like going window shopping and having to pay to look. No shopping, but still having to pay for looking.  Sounds like a good scam if you can get away with it.

Sounds like a racket alright… You need to file a complaint with the town authorities… Just my 2 cents. 🙂
