There is a very cool website called http://usdebtclock.org. This site will blow your mind. It is a real-time clock, adding to each category the amounts being spent as you look at it. The clock keeps track of the US National debt, US debt per citizen, per taxpayer, US Federal tax revenues, income taxes and payroll taxes. There is so much happening on this site you can’t take it all in.
It lists US spending, the US budget deficit, our largest budget items such as Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Federal pensions, the interest on US debt, and Earmarks…that is interesting, isn’t it?
It lists the US population, US income taxpayers, the unemployed, US work force, Food stamp recipients and more. There are the US trade deficits and imported oil. The dollar amounts will stagger you, and they are constantly changing. You can look at info on how the state you live in is doing financially, also. Take a look. It is amazing!
Not sure I want to look at that. It would probably be too depressing. Like watching the American way of life swirling the drain. And especially right now when I’m on the side helping build the deficit instead of helping bring it down.
