I have been doing the same thing for 29 years and at the same shop for the past 17 years. I am a cake decorator, but specialize in wedding cakes. I also make fondant bows, accents, trim and signs that go on tiered birthday cakes. I also do mini cakes and small decorated cakes to “pick up and go”. The variety keeps things interesting and I continually get to be creative! I have a new boss who loves my work and appreciates what I do. That makes life much easier! It’s nice to be appreciated.
This week I am making some fondant roses to paint silver for a cake, and I will be making a wedding cake with a fondant applique orchid on the sides. That is something I haven’t done before, but I just need to sketch out the pattern of the orchid to fit a 3 tier cake and then cut it out. It’s going to look sharp. I’ll be sure to take a picture.
That’s neat. I had a wedding cake for our wedding day of Aug 1st in 2009. But I never got to eat any 😛 .
